Squee! Pretty day!
Oh, so we're reading Antigone in English, and I read it over the weekend. Only, instead of reading it in the big ugly stupid awkward literature book, I read it in a slim little volume from my mom's college days. Forgot about the whole "different translation" thing. Oops.
The first sentence I read: My sister, my Ismene, do you know of any suffering from our father sprung that Zeus does not achieve for us survivors?
The first sentence in the version from our lit book: Ismene, dear sister, you would think we had already suffered enough for the curse on Oedipus.
Am perturbed.
